Made On Delmarva: Nice Farms Creamery

Bob Miller, the owner of Nice Farms Creamery, is milking a family tradition for all it's worth.

"My mom has dairy relatives up in Vermont, and of course my parents are dairying," says Miller.

His family has owned a dairy farm in Maryland since the 80's, and now he is the one leading the herd.

However Miller can't take all the credit, the real bread winner are the cows. They provide the milk to crank out 'udderly' delicious products at the farm.

"Whole milk, chocolate milk, yogurts, ice cream, butter, " says Miller.

All of these products need one key ingredient so they can be churned out…milk!

Bob took 47 ABC to the farm to show us how it's done. He says in order for cows to make good quality milk they need good pasture to graze on.

"Right now thy are eating spring grasses, a lot of that is clover,  and some other grasses," says Miller.

Miller tells us the cows are milked twice a day and then pumped into the creamery to begin the pasteurization process.

"The vats you saw will slowly warm the milk to the lowest legal temperature allowed by law," says Miller.

The milk is then cooled down, and the bottles are prepped and filled. They are then ready to be sold at local farmers markets and shops.
