Gettysburg Edges SU In Top 10 Showdown

The SU women’s lacrosse team was handed their first loss of the year Wednesday when they fell to Gettysburg 10-8. The loss drops the Sea Gulls to 4-1 on the year.

The Sea Gulls came out strong to open the game. Megan Wallenhorst was doing a great job of running the offense, finding Hannah Young, Emma Wall and Lindsey Wagner for scores. That helped SU build a 5-3 lead late in the 1st half, but the Bullets would end the half on a run, netting a couple scores to tie it up at 5-5 headed to half.

The teams continued to exchange blows in the second half, as Gabbi Nieves would score a free position goal to tie the match at 6-6. That’s when Gettysburg would go on a run, netting scores from three different players to open up a comfortable 9-6 lead with 18 minutes to go. SU would be able to get back within 2 off another free position score from Kristen Murphy, but the Bullets would have the answer at the other end to close the door.

Salisbury returns to work on Friday when they travel to York.
