Md. legislation may withhold tax returns for those with warrants

It’s no fun waiting on your tax return, but it eventually comes even if there’s a warrant out for your arrest on the eastern shore of Maryland. Senate bill 729 would change that.
Currently, Maryland’s warrant intercept program allows for the Comptroller to hold one’s tax returns if they have outstanding warrants in some counties across Maryland.
The bill, which was recently passed in the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee, currently sits in the house. If passed it would expand this intercept program to all of the eastern shore counties and those who have outstanding warrants in those counties.
