OCEAN CITY, Md. – Local businesses like Continental Cycles in Worcester County are getting hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

“During the week we are still seeing a lot of our local customers, which we appreciate, but you know we are definitely impacted by not having the tourists and the condo owners that are coming down for the weekends,” said Nicolas Dillon, manager at Continental Cycles.

The manager at the bike shop says they’re depending more and more on local customers to keep business afloat during this difficult time.

“The business right now is all locals,” said Dillon.

“People that are coming in to get their bikes fixed up for the spring or they’re stuck at home and want to get a little bit of exercise,” said Dillon.

The team at this bike shop says because they are considered essential they’re able to keep business going.

But in order to keep each and every person safe, they’ve had to make major changes.

“So, we’re limiting the amount of customers that we have coming in. We’re not doing any type of volume, weight service because we don’t want people crowding in the showroom waiting for their bikes to be serviced,” said Dillon.

And locals we spoke to say they’ll do all they can to continue supporting local businesses like Continental Cycles during these trying times.

“It’s kind of really nice to be able to support somebody locally,” said Bobbi McDonald, an Ocean City resident.

Continental Cycles is also depending on getting their products online as well as their delivery services to help stay afloat, says Dillon.
