Young But As Talented As Ever. Cape Lacrosse Is Back

The Cape girls lacrosse team is looking to keep their incredible steak going this year, as the Vikings will to capture their 8th straight state title. Losing is something this team is unfamiliar with, and they come into this season believing they have what it takes to keep it that way.

Cape features just 4 seniors this year, but will have a team that’s more talented than ever with 5 girls having already committed to play division 1, and another 3 that are receiving interest. The Vikings will look to a few familiar faces to help carry the program back to the title game, between senior Lizzie Frederick and Tess Bernheimer. Both of which were in harmony in saying the driving force for this group was equal parts in hating to lose, while also refusing to be the class that watches the steak be snapped.

The team will again have big shoes to fill after graduating Samantha Broadhurst and Lexi Woodruff. But the group feels the youth can also be a benefit this year, with the underclassman not feeling challenged for spots or pressured by seniors. The group feels this has created a selfless group, which should make this team as dangerous as ever.

Cape Henlopen opens up their season on Wednesday when they travel to Dover.
