Open for Business: Local shop connects with customers online during pandemic
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – With the coronavirus pandemic, brick and mortar shops like The Blue Awning in Cambridge are doing all they can to keep their business going.
“We weren’t going to be selling online, but now we have and I bet that I’ve spent 3 to 5 hours getting stuff online, weighing and measuring and doing all that, so it’s done and that’s a great asset,” said Mary Ann McNamara, co-owner of The Blue Awning.
The owners of The Blue Awning say because they’ve had to close their doors they’re depending on getting their products online now more than ever to keep their business afloat.
They’re also offering things like delivery so that they’re able to continue serving their customers.
“They’ll pull in my backyard and we just have our masks on and we exchange and they bring the paints and everything right to me,” said Kathy Condon, a Cambridge resident.
But ultimately the owners of The Blue Awning say they’re focusing on pushing for more engagement online with their customers and help stay connected during these trying times.
We’re told The Blue Awning is also pushing for more video content on their Facebook page to help stay connected with their customers and keep them informed about their products.
