Ocean City sees drop in crime

For Ocean City, 2015 has been recorded as the safest year since 1990, according to crime stats.
Compared to the average over the previous five years serious criminal offenses dropped 11% in 2015.
There were notable drops in specific categories as well motor vehicle theft 45%.
Aggravated assault by 2% and burglaries dropped 29%.
Lindsay Richard of Ocean City police says an increased police presence has deterred crime.
“We have our flex patrol squad in the summer who focused on addressing specific issues within our different neighborhoods,” says Richard, “We also have our special enforcement unit which was introduced in 2014 and this past year they’ve focused their efforts on our boardwalk and southern part of town”.
