Wilmington apartment death victims identified

An investigation is continuing into the deaths of four people at an apartment complex in Wilmington.

New Castle County police identified the four as 60-year-old Carl Dunfee, 58-year-old Veronica Mousely, 72-year-old Andrew Spanakos and 56-year-old Nancy Uniacke.

The four were discovered Friday. New Castle County police said three children and four adults also were hospitalized.

The dead were found at in apartments identified by police as the Hidden Valley Apartment Complex. A management company said the complex is called Evergreen at Riverfront Heights.

A police spokesman, Cpl. Tom Jackson, said investigators believe the deaths were caused by an unspecified environmental issue. He said Saturday emergency responders detected levels of carbon monoxide but that has not been confirmed yet as the cause of the deaths.

Two buildings at the complex were evacuated Friday night and ordered closed during the investigation. The Red Cross was called into to assist displaced residents.
