Berlin seeking community input on Resilience Element

BERLIN, Md.- The Town of Berlin created a plan that focuses on climate change for the Town’s 2020 Comprehensive Plan and they are seeing public input.

The Resilience Element is made up of information of how the Town will prepare the town better for future impacts from climate driven events and climate driven changes.

The Town said that they have dealt with large-scale flooding issues, that result from a lack of existing infrastructure.

By having the community weigh in, it will help them to further move forward with their plans.

“So they have to buy into the concept, they have to aid in the concept, and kinda help us with that vision, what do they wanna see added to it, or deleted from it,” Dave Engelhart, Berlin Planning Director, said.

We are told the town received a $20,000 grant from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources to begin drafting the Resilience Element.

Comments on the draft will be accepted until April 30 on the Town’s website.
