ChristianaCare hosts free COVID-19 testing event
GEORGETOWN, Del. – On Wednesday, people all across Sussex County got tested for the coronavirus for free at the Delaware Technical Community College in Georgetown.
All people had to do to get tested was pull up in their cars and get the inside of their noses swabbed.
The free testing event was held by the nonprofit ChristianaCare.
Organizers say COVID-19 testing sites like this one are crucial right now especially in places like Sussex County where the number of coronavirus cases is on the rise.
“So, there has been an increase in number of positives in Sussex County, some of them have been among the workers who work in poultry plants in the area,” said Clinical Essential Services Vice President Terri Corbo.
“They have families naturally, and we’re out here to meet the needs of those workers and their families, among others in the area who might also be feeling unwell,” said Corbo.
Members of Christiana Care tell us this was their first time hosting this kind of event in Sussex County.
They say they’re looking at potentially hosting a second one in the future.
