UPDATE: 1 killed, 3 injured in Cambridge house fire

A joint investigation between the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office and Cambridge Police Department is underway after an early morning fire killed one person and hurt three people, including two firefighters.
Cambridge Police say the fire at the home on the 1000 block of Locust Street was reported around 1:18 a.m. Tuesday.
When 47ABC caught up fire officials from the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, a team was sifting through remnants searching for any evidence which lead them to answers.
“We’re still in the early part of the investigation,” says Joe Flanagan, Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal with the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office. “We have a lot of digging to do.”
According to police, two men were inside the home. The blaze killed one and injured the other, who we’re told jumped out a window from the second floor.
Lieutenant Justin Todd of the Cambridge Police Department says the injuries sustained by the second man and firefighters were not severe, and they are expected to recover.
Neighbors we spoke to say they were shocked to see the flames early Tuesday morning.
“When we came outside, all I seen was flames going from everywhere from out of that house. They were everywhere, ” says Shabreya Brisco, “They were coming up on the electrical poles so it was sparks flying everywhere.”
James Rice lives two houses away from the destroyed home and described the deceased man as a good neighbor.
“He would always help us out , like he would always offer if we needed any help or anything. He was pretty much a helpful person and a nice person,” says James.
As for fire officials and law enforcement, they say they have their work cut out for them.
“We need to one, do a physical examination of the scene which is what we’re doing now and then once we get that, we’ll bring all of the evidence that we find together to try to come up with a determination,” explains Flanagan.
Lieutenant Todd says the body of the deceased man has been transported for an autopsy.
