Former Crisfield PD Chief arrested for involvement in September fire

According to Maryland Natural Resources Police, Norman C. Swift III, 61, was arrested Thursday after he allegedly set a grove of pine trees on fire back in September.
Candy Thomson of Maryland Natural Resources Police tells 47 ABC the fire occurred at the intersection of Phoenix Church Road and Farm Market Road, just outside of Crisfield.
We’re told the fire was observed by members of the Crisfield Fire Department, who reportedly observed Swift in the area.
Thomson says Swift is still on probation a 2013 incident involving theft, malicious destruction of property and having a handgun in a vehicle.
As of now, Swift is being held at the Somerset Co. Detention Center on $15,000.00 bond.
He faces charges of the malicious or negligent setting of fires.
Swift reportedly has a long history of criminal charges, including some burglary cases dating back to the 1980s.
