Easton Holds Off Bucs Rally For First Win Of The Year

The Easton baseball team picked up their first win of the season Friday when they topped Kent Island 9-6. The win improves the Warriors to 1-2, while the loss drops the Buccaneers to 1-1.

The Warriors offense would be rolling early on. Mason Ledford would lead the way finishing 3-4, while driving in 3 runs. Easton also got some good work at the dish by Brenan Cassell and Trent Weems as they would build a 9-2 lead. The lead appeared to be enough too for freshman Brandon Latham, who had it going on the mound, pitching a strong game into the 6th. There, the Bucs offense finally started going. Jake Hipp would get an RBI single to left to get it started, and then Kent Island would climb within 3 after a wild pitch allowed Mike Ledger to score. But Easton would settle down and close it out with their defense for the win.

Easton returns to work on Monday when they travel to play North Caroline, while Kent Island host St. Mary’s on Saturday.
