Highlights from today's games.

welcome back, were talking sports tray a really busy night in the sports world.. yeah david, we’ve got major league baseball, the mens championship game, nba hall of fame news, everything seems to be going on tonight but we have to start it with a big rivalry game here in salisbury. and two teams that normally challenge for conference title took the forefront today when bennett hosted parkside. and early on this was some what of a pitchers duel, bennett’s connor banks gets the punchout, we would be scoreless after one inning. lucas holmes on the mound for parkside and early on he was in cruise control, gets the strikeout, they went at it for a while. banks running into a little trouble in the third, connor shockley hits one deep into right field, ball is gonna fall over the right fielder’s shoulder…in comes grant burleson and colin green. parkside took a 5-0 lead. well apparently i was the problem for the clippers, because when i left, the bats got going for the clippers, and the defense locked down. cade rousseau had the walk off winner as bennett storms back at home to win a wild one 10-9. snow hill traveling to take on washington earlier this afternoon, the eagles came out strong in this one. tyler raber gets the rbi single to give snow hill an early lead. started a little erratic for washington but the dsi legend julius white, he would settle down some, gets the strikeout there. eagles back up at the dish, josh coleman sends one deeep to left, over the left fielders head into the wall, rbi double for coleman to open up that lead. then the eagles would pour it on, ryan donaway down the line, another run scores, all hilltop in this one, snow hill wins 10-0. same teams going at it over at the softball diamond there in princess anne, early on its grace barnes connecting for washington, she hits one out of the diamond solo home run gives the jags the lead. snow hill firing right back, anna adams shoots one to right center, just out of the reach of the centerfielder, kelsey hall comes in to score. snow hill looking for more later laurie short, hitting that one long, rylee covington comes in. a lot of offense in this one but snow hill went on a 17-1 run to end this game, they take it 17-7 the final. the ncaa men’s tournament started on march 15th with 68 teams in the field, fast forward 20 days and were down to just two. north carolina, villanova battled it out tonight for one shining moment. nrg stadium in houston packed to capacity to see one versus two, and this game was good from the very beginning. villanova leading by five early, brice johnson catches the alley and throws it down and stares down the defender, bryce has been doing that all year, villanova right back at them, daniel ochefu, baltimore’s very own gets a throwdown on a defender. this was back and forth all night, north carolina took the lead here for good in the first half, joel berry knocks down the three. heels lock in! crowd going crazy but as back and forth as this one was, pulled away at the end to win it -. the are your national champions. and of course we cannot forget the season openers and of course we cannot forget the season openers happening all over ballparks rkaround the country. major league baseball is back in full swing. and what a great night it was all over, bryce harper went yard in his first at bat of the season, there arent many better ways to start your year than that there. as the nats won in atlanta 4-3 in 10 innings. the phillies were in cincinnati taking on the reds, freddy galvis went deep in that one..the phillies actually led 2-1 throughout most of this game, until the reds scored 5 runs in the 8th to win 6-2. and the good ole baltimore orioles they win game one of 162 in walk off fashion, matt wieters played hero in the bottom of the ninth for the 3-2 win. what a night, tonight set the mood, its gonna be a great yearar in the majors. that’s it for sports. good news is just ahead- keep it right here — you’re watching 47 abc! catch more of the action on our sports page at 47abc.com
