Ocean City approves new regulation for boardwalk performers

Following an unanimous Monday night, the Ocean City council has voted to adopt new recommendations from the Ocean City Boardwalk Task Force.
The biggest change is applying a lottery system for boardwalk performers.
Jessica Waters, communications manager for the town of Ocean City, says the city clerk’s office will be picking performers once a week. This will determine who gets first choice when it comes to picking a space on the boardwalk.
Last year, this was done a first-come, first-serve basis.
“There was a lot of good things about that, but there were some concerns brought up by the street performers so this is something different,” explains Waters. “It’s going to allow them to move around a little bit more, they’re not going to be able to stay in the location for a certain amount of time.”
Waters says, this new regulation will go into effect May 1st and last through September 15.
