Lewes bowling alley to fill off-season void

16 bowling lanes, two-stories of laser tag and a restaurant and bar. We’re told it will all be inside Lefty’s, an entertainment venue that will soon sit off of Route 1 in Lewes.
“The project has been received very, very well. Everybody seems to be extremely excited about it, just as much as we are.” Said DJ Hill, a co-developer.
Hill and his partner, Chad Moore, tell us that the process began about five years ago.
Hill told 47 ABC, “I think that we’ve identified a need in the community and really the genesis of the idea came from some of our own frustrations of having a family with not a lot to do,” Moore added, “there was a lot going on where you were traveling down to Salisbury or traveling to Ocean City or you were travelling to Dover to do things in the winter with your children.
Scott Thomas, executive director of Southern Delaware Tourism says that Lefty’s will fill a few voids in the community. One in the off-season and one in-season, with a lack of bowling options by the coast.
“You have bowling lanes in Milford, which is about a 30-minute drive from that location with traffic. You have a few lanes in Millsboro and then you have to go south into Ocean City Maryland,” Said Thomas.
We’re told in addition to bringing some wintertime fun to the Lewes area, Lefty’s will also bring jobs.
Moore told us, “we’re hoping that we’re going to create 50 full-time jobs and then another 25 to 40 part-time jobs depending on the seasonality,”
We’re told weather-permitting, Lefty’s will open this October.
