Nearly 200 new cases, three additional COVID-19 related deaths in Del.

SMYRNA, Del. – The Delaware Division of Public Health says that as of Wednesday evening, nearly 200 new coronavirus cases had been confirmed in the state, with three more deaths.

We’re told that the most recent individuals who died included an 88-year-old New Castle County man, 74-year-old Sussex County woman, and 81-year-old New Castle County man. All were reportedly hospitalized and had underlying health conditions.

To date, 19 Delawareans have died from complications of the coronavirus. Nine of these deaths were related to long-term care facilities, including eight in New Castle County and one in Sussex County.

Officials also announced the addition of 188 positive cases, bringing the state’s total to 1,116. 636 of these cases are in New Castle County, 201 in Kent, and 279 in Sussex.

A total of 117 Delawareans are currently hospitalized, 51 of which are critically ill.

159 have recovered from the virus.
