UPDATE: Congress Members shot during baseball practice

UPDATE:

The possible suspect connected to Wednesday morning's shooting, at a congressional baseball practice in UPDATE:

A possible suspect has been identified in connection with Wednesday morning's shooting at a congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia. Authorities believe it is 66-year-old James T. Hodgkison of Illinois.

During an address around 11:45 am on Wednesday, President Donald Trump said the assailant in the congressional baseball practice shooting died from his injuries.

Representative Steve Scalise, of Louisiana, was shot at the congressional baseball practice.

Trump said Scalise "was badly wounded and is now in stable condition."

Officials said several other people were also wounded. 

Trump praised the "heroic actions" of the Capital Police at the scene, who were part of Scalise's security detail and returned fire, wounding the shooter.

Officials say emergency response units were on the scene within 3 minutes and at least 5 people were transported to nearby medical facilities.

On June 14, 2017, a group of  Congress members were shot at in a Virginia Park.

Around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday morning, Senior Representative Steve Scalise was shot and  five more people were wounded during a baseball practice.

Alexandria Police and F.B.I. have contained the scene and the shooter has been taken into custody.

The incident has been described to have had 50 to 100 shots fired between security detail and the shooter.

 No injuries have been reported  life threatening at this time. Scalise was shot in the abdomen and pressure was applied to his wound and is being transported to a local hospital.

Motive is not known at this time.
