Comeback Clips! Bennett Shocks Rival Parkside

Can’t count these Clips out. The game seemed to be over as Parkside held a 12-3 lead after 3. Even some Bennett fans left. But baseball is a funny game, and the Clippers weren’t ready to pack it up just yet. Bennett plated a run in the 4th, then 2 more in the 5th before exploding for 8 in the 6th to pull off an incredible and improbable come from behind 14-12 win. The win improves the Clippers to 8-2, while the Rams drop to 7-3.
Parkside would jump out to a quick lead. After plating 4 in the first, they would tack on 4 more in the 2nd after a RBI double from Connor Shockley. The Clippers would chose to intentionally walk Matt Smith, bringing to the plate his brother Andrew. Just a couple pitches later, he would connect on a pitch and send it over the wall in right for a 3 run shot. Parkside would plate 4 more in the 3rd to build a 12-3 lead.
That’s when the Clippers would answer, and the wheels began to fall off for the Rams. Bennett would score a run in the 4th off a RBI single from Cade Hurley. Then add 2 more in the 5th off a 2 RBI single from Charlie Kerrigan. Kerrigan wasn’t done just yet, as the Clippers really took over in the 6th. After a couple RBI base knocks, Cade Rousseau would bloop a single to left with 2 outs to bring in a couple runs. The Rams would have 4 errors in the inning to help spark the rally, as the game tying run would come across off a pass ball. After the go-ahead RBI single, the Clippers would score the final run of the game off a RBI single from Hurley. Tyler Dunn would shut the door, pitching a few solid innings in relief.
The Clippers return to work on Thursday when they host Queen Anne’s, while Parkside host Kent Island on Thursday.
