Sea Gulls Power Their Way To Title Game

The Salisbury University softball team powered their way to the CAC Championship game Friday morning, riding two moonshots on their way to a 7-3 win over Christopher Newport. The win makes 16 straight now for SU, and improves their record to 33-4.
The Captains would take an early lead in the 2nd inning after they pulled off a double steal, with Megan Jones taking home on a throw to 2nd. SU would fire right back in the bottom of the 3rd, when Molly Simpson would turn on a pitch for a solo shot to left center. The rally was short lived though as CNU would respond in the 5th. With 2 on, Scoop Simon would blast on to the gap in left center, emptying the bases for a 2 RBI double. The Sea Gulls would rally though in the bottom of that inning. With a runner on 1st and 2nd, Molly Simpson would send a roller up the middle for a RBI single. That was followed by another RBI single to center by Paige Knussman to tie up the game. That brought to the plate, Annah Brittingham, and she would blast a shot to dead center on the first pitch she saw. The center fielder wouldn’t be able to make the catch at the wall, allowing 2 runs to come in, as Brittingham hustled into 3rd for a triple. Then SU would add a couple insurance runs as Kim Dorsey would get ahold of one, and send it over the wall in left for a 2 run shot. Pitching would do the rest from there for SU as they were able to hold on for the win.
Salisbury University returns to work on Saturday in the CAC Title game.
