UPDATE: Pocomoke City announces date for new election

After officials couldn’t certify the votes the first time, election officials in Pocomoke City have announced the date for a new election.
According to the Pocomoke City Board of Election’s website, the election for the District 1 city council seat will be held on May 31, at the Pocomoke Library. Polls will be open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
The race in question is incumbent George Tasker versus Sheila Nelson.
In the original election, which happened earlier in April,132 people voted, but only 127 votes were tallied. That night it was decided to hold a revote after officials couldn’t certify the results. That revote was only supposed to be with those 132 people voting, however, a little over a week later, officials reversed that decision and opened the election up to all voters in the district.
Diane Downing was also running unopposed for District 2. Officials have certified her results and she will now serve a three year term.
