Grading policies for students in Wicomico

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md.- While classes in Wicomico Co. resumed remotely this week, educational leaders are trying to decide how they will handle grading assignments.

Friday, Superintendent of Wicomico County Public County Schools, Dr. Donna Hanlin, said that leaders in the state had a conference call to discuss the matter.

“As we move forward we’re seriously considering the pass incomplete format there’s lots of discussion across the state about what’s fair and equitable to all students and that is really my primary concern to be fair and equitable,” Dr. Hanlin said.

We are told educational leaders came to the conclusion that they will be looking at current grading policies more on a county by county basis and adjustments will be made from there.

This week teachers have been wrapping up material for the third marking term and have been working to become familiar with digital and non-digital learning formats for students.

Dr. Hanlin said that most feedback has been positive from parents about the online learning.
