BREAKING: WMDT projects Ernie Davis to win as Wicomico Executive

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – WMDT is projecting Democratic challenger Ernest Davis as the winner of the race for Wicomico County Executive, ousting current executive Julie Giordano.

As of 11:00 p.m. all election day precincts had reported their results, leaving Davis with 51 percent of the vote to Giordano’s 48.8 percent — a 652 vote lead. Davis, a former Wicomico County Councilman, ran on a platform of accountability, transparency, investment and safety, adding that his goal is to engage residents and hear their ideas.

Multiple controversies plagued Giordano’s campaign, including the controversy surrounding inappropriate communications with Sheriff’s deputies, ‘No Queens’ signs protesting her run for reelection, and condemnation surrounding racist comments on her social media pages.
