21-year-old killed in crash in Caroline County
GOLDSBORO, Md. – The Caroline County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is investigating a two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 21-year-old Marydel man on Tuesday morning.
On Nov. 3, at 7:00 a.m., deputies responded to the intersection of Union Road and Davis Road in Goldsboro, for a reported motor vehicle collision. A preliminary investigation indicates that a 2017 Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Davis Road when the driver failed to stop at a posted stop sign. The Honda Civic entered the intersection and was struck on its driver’s side by a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado traveling westbound on Union Road.
Investigators believe fog and reduced visibility may have been contributing factors in the collision.
The driver of the Honda Civic, a 21-year-old male from Marydel, Maryland, was transported to an area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the driver is being withheld pending notification to next of kin. The occupants of the Chevrolet Silverado declined medical treatment at the scene.
Union Road remained closed for an extended period while investigators processed the crash scene and worked to clear the roadway.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team responded to the scene and is assisting CCSO with the investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information relevant to the investigation is encouraged to contact authorities at 410-479-2515.
