Crisfield Lions Club holds annual sausage sale

Crisfield, Md. — The Crisfield Lions Club is preparing for the holidays with their annual sausage sale – a tradition that dates back over two decades.

The organization says it sold over 3,500 lbs. of sausage this year – with proceeds going towards their charitable fund.

The money helps the club support the community by providing for families in need and funding the group’s future events. The Lions Club says sausage is scheduled to arrive for distribution on Veterans Day.

“The money really helps the community survive the harsh winter when jobs are slow in the area. It helps with [anything from] their heat and fuel assistance to, say, medical bills. There’s a lot of need in the community, and we’re just put a small part of helping meet the demand,” said Billy Drewer, president of the Crisfield Lions Club.

While the sale only runs from the end of September through the end of October, Drewer said they accept donations throughout the year to support their various efforts.
