Sunfest Returns to the Ocean City Inlet – Bringing Music, Crafts, Sun, and Fun
OCEAN CITY, Md. – Sunfest brought music, food, crafts, and fun back to the Ocean City Inlet as the beloved event packed the beach and coastline, even though it isn’t peak season.
Brenda Moore is the special events director for the Town of Ocean City, and helps to plan events like Sunfest.
“For 51 years, Sun Fest has been the original shoulder-season event.” Said Moore. “It used to extend past Labor Day, now we are extending past September. So now we are all the way almost to November. And, look, the sky is blue. And the people come. They want to be here. They want to be a part of our town.”
Events this weekend include beach hayrides, sunrise yoga, the talented dock dogs, and wine on the beach. The weekend is catered to a variety of interests, and has something for all age groups.
“I like to joke and say, for the locals, and those who want to be locals, because you do have a lot of local people who now, you know, after the busy season, they like to get out and and enjoy our town.” Said Moore.
The outdoor event running from Oct. 22nd to the 25th, doesn’t only benefit those lucky enough to attend. Vendors, like Sandy Eshelman, are also benefited by the increased traction during the off-season.
“The coastal events are very important for me because it represents what I do, and I do shows all on the East Coast.” Said Eshelman. “And Sunfest is one of the largest and I’m happy to be here.”
Sunfest continues Saturday Oct. 24th from 10am – 7pm, and wraps up on Sunday Oct. 25th from 10am- 6pm.
