(ST. MICHAELS, Md) – The St. Michaels Branch of the Talbot County Public Library is running a new program to get more books in people’s hands.

37 book lockers are now available so readers can check out books after hours through a pilot program.

The community is exciting by the new program, and that success could bring the lockers to other parts of talbot county where no proper library branch exists.

Library Branch Manager, Amy Wise tells WMDT, “Then we’re looking at maybe putting a book locker in Trappe and in Cordova, where we don’t have branches. So that would allow people in that community not to have to travel all the way into Easton to get, you know, their materials.”
