Hurlock Announces New Boys and Girls Club

Boys And Girls Club

(HURLOCK, Md) – The town of Hurlock has announced a new branch of a national organization in the community as they welcome the Boys and Girls Club of the Eastern Shore to the new Hurlock chapter.

Hurlock Mayor, Earl Murphy says the new branch of the Boys and Girls Club has been in the works for most of 2026.

Mayor Murphy tells WMDT, “This has been in the works since February of this year. Through many conversations over the phone and via email and many personal meetings, we are to the point that we were able to introduce it last night at our town meeting.”

The new Boys and Girls Club branch has garnered support from Hurlock and nearby Federalsburg, where the first two chapters are established…as well as support from Dorchester County Superintendent, Dr. Jymil Thompson.

In a statement obtained by WMDT, the newly established Boys and Girls Club of the Eastern Shore says, “We believe this Club will become a valuable resource for Hurlock families and make a difference in the lives of children for many years to come.”

And they’re planning to start out at Hurlock Elementary.

“The seed has been planted at the elementary school. We have an opportunity to offer this to at least 50 children as of the beginning. We’re going to have a full time club director who’s going to have their own office at the elementary school,” says Murphy.

The Boys and Girls Club of the Eastern Shore will open their doors on Monday, November 2nd.
