Worcester County Hosts Job and and Resource Fair in Pocomoke City
POCOMOKE CITY, Md. – Job seekers from all over Delmarva were able to explore an array of career opportunities and utilize resources to launch their futures at the Worcester County Job and Resource Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 14th.
Nancy Schwendeman is the Workforce Development Specialist for Worcester County, and helped to organize the event.
“It is a tough market right now, but we feel that events like this really put the right pieces together to get everybody employed with the right positions, the right careers, and everybody wins.” Said Schwendeman.
The event, hosted by Worcester County Economic Development, lined the Pocomoke Community Center with booths from a variety of employers. The fair also offered career building resources, from professional head shots, to a mobile computer lab, the facilities made the fair a one-stop shop for career development.
“We have such great people here and we want to make sure that our fabulous employers get to make that match today.” Said Schwendeman. “So the in-person, really makes a difference. Being able to talk with someone, set eyes on them, get to know them a little bit.”
One of the companies in attendance, was local advanced manufacturing company Hardwire LLC, which was recently awarded a $99 million defense contract. Hardwire’s Director of Human Resources, Matt Culbertson, was talking to job seekers at the event.
“Hardwire has been around about 25 years and we base ourselves here on the Eastern Shore and having local folks be a part of our team is absolutely critical, because what we like to say is you have to have a reason to be here.” Said Culbertson.
The event hoped to launch the start of many successful careers in Worcester County.
