Art League of Ocean City Celebrates Women With “Feminessence”
OCEAN CITY, Md. -The Art League of Ocean City’s October exhibit is showcasing the stories and lives of women, through creative expression.
Mary Anne Cooper, the Education Director for the art league, explained that “Feminessence” tells the stories and unique perspectives of women from all walks of life through multiple art forms.
“Feminessence highlights women.” Said Cooper. “It highlights the creativity of women, the resilience of women. It highlights what women do every day, every year to make sure that our community thrives, to make sure families thrive. Women tell the stories, and the stories get passed down from year to year, from generation to generation.”
The exhibit is part of reoccurring curation for the month of October, funded by community based grants. This years is specifically aimed at highlighting the stories of women.
“Funded by the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore for the Women’s Fund.” Said Cooper. “Last year we also were funded through the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, and we had a women’s leadership group that met all year long, and it was to build women’s skills and leadership and then to give back through the community.”
The Art League is also hosting an event on Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 6-8, where female authors on the Eastern Shore share their stories.
