WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man with outstanding warrants from four different police agencies during a traffic stop on Saturday night.

On Oct. 3, a Wicomico deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Maryland registered vehicle for an equipment violation. Upon making contact with the driver, the deputy requested his driver’s license and registration. The driver told the officer he did not have his wallet, but provided the vehicle’s registration. When asked to provide his name and date of birth, the driver allegedly provided the deputy with fictious information. The driver also told the officer that he did not possess a valid driver’s license and was operating the vehicle with only a learner’s permit.

A records check of the provided information did not return a valid Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration record. The driver was subsequently questioned again by the deputy, and continued to provide a fictious name and date of birth.

Deputies continued their investigation and determined the driver’s true identity to be Jarrell Lamar Spates. Spates was found to have outstanding warrants through the Maryland State Police, Pocomoke City Police Department, Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, and Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Office.

Spates was subsequently placed under arrest for his outstanding warrants, in addition to obstructing and hindering and related charges.
