Health and Wellness Day connects Milford residents with community resources

MILFORD, Del.– Community members gathered at the Delaware Food Bank in Milford for a Health and Wellness day aimed at connecting residents with free health and wellness resources.

The event brought together local organizations and service providers to help residents access resources tailored to their individual needs.

Todd Graham, CEO of Highmark Health Options, said giving back to the community is a key priority for the organization.

“We believe in giving back to the community is they key thing,” Graham said. “It’s critical that we reach out and help our population and help really all residents of Delaware.”

Zachary Kellerman said events like this can help ease the difficult choices some people face when trying to afford basic necessities.

“I think a lot of times unfortunately, we’re seeing people choose between having to buy food or having to buy health and wellness,” Kellerman said. “So by having those options available to folks we’re able to provide nutritious options so they can see, you know we are helping out.”

The event also featured providers offering resources focused on women’s health, including reproductive and sexual health services.

Brittany Taylor-Williams said access to reproductive and sexual healthcare is an important part of overall wellness.

“So reproductive and sexual health and wellness is my jam,” Taylor-Williams said. “We absolutely want to talk about having access to that care and also that your mental health is being taken care of as well.”

Ronaldo Johnson said the event showed how community members and organizations can work together to support local residents.

“As you can see, there’s a lot of people that help deal with the community and just want to lift up a person and make sure they have a nice day and a good smile,” Johnson said.

The Health and Wellness Day brought residents and community organizations together with a shared goal of making health and wellness resources more accessible.
