Diakonia and Town of Ocean City Celebrate Partnership and $250,000 Commitment to New Facility

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Leaders and board members of Diakonia Inc. gathered Tuesday, September 29th, to celebrate the shelter’s $250,000 funding boost from the Town of Ocean City.

Diakonia Chair of the Board of Directors, Brian Roberts, emphasized the importance of the towns support.

“The partnership with the town of Ocean City is absolutely amazing.” Said Roberts. “We’re so blessed to have them on board with us. You know, it just shows the support. We’ve been very blessed. We’ve had the support of the Governor, congress, you know, our local congressmen, and Senator Van Hollen, it’s been this total bipartisan event.”

The funding is part of Diakonia’s Supportive Living Campus Capital Campaign, as they work towards creating a new facility.

Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan stopped by to speak about the importance of the partnership and how it will help the shelter expand.

The $250,000 in funding will be spread out over the course of 5 years, and is just a portion of capital funding the non-profit has received for this new project.
