House representative aims to consolidate Delaware’s election process

One elected official in Delaware is trying to simplify the way locals vote. She plans to consolidate their elections.
House Representative Stephanie Bolden has introduced legislation that would move Delaware’s state primary elections to coincide with its presidential primary elections.
Right now, Delaware holds presidential primaries on the fourth Tuesday in April. However, the primaries for statewide and local political offices are on the second Tuesday after the first Monday in September.
Bolden believes the different dates can create confusion among voters and affects turnout. Her bill would move all state primaries to the fourth Tuesday in April.
