Morning High Tide Brings Flooding to Downtown Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Morning high tide following inclement weather caused by the nor’easter brought flooding to downtown Ocean City.

On the morning of Sunday Sept. 27th, there were multiple road closures in Downtown Ocean City and along Philadelphia Avenue. Ocean City police department advised motorists to limit travel in the area, and to plan alternative routes. Visitors who needed to enter or leave Ocean City, were encourages to use Route 90 bridge.

Motorists with higher framed vehicles, like Brian Hall, were able to travel through the flood waters safely.

“My trucks a little higher, so that works out.” Said Hall. “So I don’t mind driving through it.”

Another motorist, Jim Barger, explained that he had to come move his car ahead of high tide, to avoid damage to the vehicle.

“I’ve lived here for 36 years.” Said Barger. “Or been a condo owner here for 36 years. I’ve never seen consistent flooding like this. It’s the worst I’ve ever seen. My jeep that’s been here since Thursday, and then another vehicle was here Wednesday. But it was down here a little further, and I had to pick it up two days ago because if not, it’d be gone and it would be flooded out.”
