Senators Rolled Seahawks In Bi-State Challenge

The Dover baseball team picked up a nice win Saturday afternoon when they traveled to take on Stephen Decatur in the Bi-State challenge, and rolled to a 9-1 win. The win improves the Senators to 13-2, while the loss drops the Seahawks to 15-2.
Dover would waste little time before getting on the board. Triston Harris would knock a RBI single to right in the 2nd to get it started. That was followed by a RBI fielders choice for Jordan Hutchins. Dover then would stretch their lead in the 3rd, following a tough day pitching for Decatur. The Seahawks would load the bases after a walk and a hit batter. They would then walk another batter before bringing in another run off yet another hit by pitch. Harris would be back up and send a RBI single to left to stretch the lead to 5-0, before a pass ball would bring in another run. Tyler Rosello would get an RBI fielders choice with the bases loaded, before Decatur would get out of the jam after turning a 4-3 double play. It looked like it could’ve been worse, if not for an incredible diving stop by Gus Esham at 3rd, to rob the Senators of a base hit.
Meanwhile, Hutchins would have it going on the hill for Dover. He would go 5 innings without giving up a hit and looked like he might get the no-hitter going into the 5th. Dover wasn’t able to plate the final run however, and the game would go the full 7. There, following a walk and a single, Decatur would get on the board after a RBI single to right by Tristan McDounough. But that would be all the offense they could muster on the day as Dover closed it out for the win.
Decatur returns to work on Monday when they travel to play Bennett, while Dover host Delmar on Tuesday.
