Md. MVA unveils new license design

More colorful and detailed but above all more secure. That’s the goal of the newly designed Maryland driver’s licenses unveiled Monday afternoon.

This marks the first time since 2003 that the card has changed designs and features. These new cards are apparently more secure with detailed laser engravement.

There are three areas where your photo appears. Two black and white images on the front and a smaller color image on the back.

If you’re renewing your license via the internet, new cards will be sent out starting July 20th. If you have a current valid ID or license and it’s not up for renewal, you’re in the clear until you do have to renew.
