Cambridge Main Street Celebrates Life of Dolly Parton

(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – Despite the dreary weather conditions, The City of Cambridge is celebrating the legacy of singer, Dolly Parton.

They’re celebrating Dolly Parton not just because of her music, but the impact she had.

The celebration includes highlighting what made Dolly Parton an icon.

From a costume contest for the best Dolly Parton look-a-like, to a book donation.

The book donation was important because of one of Dolly Parton’s lasting impacts was the Imagination Library, with the goal of getting books to children so they could learn to read.

And that’s what they want to lend a hand in Cambridge.

“…of course, she did so much as a humanitarian and so much for reading. And grade level reading is so important to Dorchester County. This was the best way to tribute that. It’s also giving books back to our kids,” says Dorchester Tourism Director, Holly Gilpin.
