Chicken Trailer Overturned in Car Crash on Route 113 in Worcester Co.

WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. – A tractor trailer carrying chickens on Route 113 was overturned after it collided with another vehicle on Thursday morning.

According to Maryland State Police (MSP), shortly before noon, troopers from the Berlin Barrack responded to the area of Rt. 113 near Bishopville Road for a report of a two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer. The Bishopville Volunteer Fire Department (BVFD) also responded to the crash, assisted by the Worcester County Hazmat Team to pump off a saddle tank. 

The driver of the tractor-trailer was transported to a local hospital by ambulance, and no other injuries were reported.

BVFD says firefighters and emergency medical services have cleared the area; however, travelers should expect delays heading northbound on Route 113 while crews continue to clean up the area.

MSP continues to investigate the crash.
