Warriors Upset Crisfield To Advance

The 5th seeded Pocomoke softball team hit the road on a rainy and wet Friday afternoon, and pulled off a convincing upset of 4th seeded Crisfield, 23-8. The Warriors battled through rough playing conditions, showed patience at the plate as they pulled off the programs first playoff win in year.

The Warriors got off to a red hot start. Their discipline at the plate would help them draw a few walks as they worked the bases for 6 runs in the first. The Crabbers would to respond in the bottom of the 2nd as they would get their bats going as well. After a couple singles, the base runners would take advantage of a couple pass balls as Anabelle Mrohs and Mallory Dryden would both score to trim the deficit to four. But the Warriors came to play in this one. Pocomoke would bat around the lineup in the 3rd, getting RBI base knocks from Courtney Logan, Peyton Becker, Katelyn Tatterson, McKenzie Mitchell, Dom Farrace and Sam Dingus as they scored eight runs to blow open the game. The lead was more than enough for Dingus, who would make timely pitches all afternoon to work her way out of jams.

The Warriors now advance to face top seeded Mardela on Monday.
