Police: Man fires at Va. trooper; no one injured

State police say no one was injured when a man fired several shots at a trooper after a vehicle chase in Hampton.
Police say 27-year-old Markese Lewis has been charged with attempted capital murder of a police officer and numerous other charges after the shooting Saturday evening. Police say Lewis fired several shots that hit the trooper’s vehicle.
Police said in a news release that a Hampton police officer also fired a shot at Lewis, who was not wounded. Lewis was arrested minutes later and is being held without bail.
Police say Lewis refused to stop after almost striking another vehicle with his SUV. The chase continued onto Interstates 64 and 664 and then into a residential area, where police say Lewis got out of the vehicle and opened fire.
