Bicyclist struck by car in Lewes

The Delaware State Police say 22 year old Dimitri Rich of Longneck was riding his bike on Coastal Hwy Saturday morning when he was struck by  a car.  The investigation revealed Rich was crossing Coastal Hwy at the intersection of Dartmouth Drive when police say he struck the front left side of a car traveling Northbound.

Police say the impact threw Rich from the bicycle onto the road.  He was then transferred to Beebe Medical Center where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries according to authorities.  The driver of the car was properly restrained and was uninjured.

Delaware State Police have charged Rich with Bicyclist to ride to the right of the roadway, Fail to give hand and arm signals and Bicyclist to use designated path when provided.  Officials say Rich was wanted on previous traffic charges as well.
