Mardela Softball Rolls Past Pocomoke

The Mardela softball team advanced to the regional semifinals Monday after they defeated Pocomoke 19-4. The Warriors will now host Snow Hill on Wednesday.

Pocomoke would take advantage of 2 Mardela errors in the 1st to get runners in scoring position. Mackenzie Mitchell would then hit a RBI fielders choice, followed by a RBI single from Mackensie Beauchamp. The lead wouldn’t last for long though, as Mardela plated 12 runs in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by a 2 RBI single from Amber Lovelace and a 3 RBI double from Baylee Littleton. Pocomoke would answer in the top of the 2nd, as Payton Becker would rip a RBI single to center to get a run back, but Mardela kept on coming. Kasey Goshorn would have a 2 RBI single to left in the 2nd, followed by a RBI single in the 3rd to help put the game out of reach. Goshorn finished with 3 hits and 3 RBI’s, while Mackenzie Disbennett, Lovelace, and Maddy Catlin each had 2 hits.
