Ride Of Silence to recognize cyclists injured or killed on road

Wednesday was the 12th annual ride of silence in Sussex County, which is part of a worldwide day in which riders get on their bikes to honor other cyclists who have been injured or killed while riding. The riders completed a 10 mile ride in silence, a symbolic way to make sure motorists hear their message.

Mike Tyler, a Sussex County cyclist who organized the local participation for a global event tells 47ABC “we belong on the road, we follow the rules, we ride with traffic, we observe traffic signals, and we are law abiding cyclists. And everybody should do the same, and it brings awareness to the motorists that there are bicycles out there and they belong on the road.”
