Dover Man Arrested for Vehicle Theft, Burglary

DOVER, Del. – The Dover Police Department (DPD) arrested a man in connection with a burglary and vehicle theft that occurred Thursday morning.

Officers arrested 32-year-old Keith Rollerson of Dover on charges including resisting arrest, third degree burglary, theft under $1,500, theft of a motor vehicle, and related drug crimes.

DPD says their investigation began at 6:07 a.m., when officers responded to the Speedmart/Valero on North DuPont Highway for a report of a man breaking into the business. Officers discovered a shattered glass door and a broken adjacent window. Through surveillance footage, detectives determined the suspect used a rock to break the glass, then used a crutch to clear the remaining glass so he could reach inside and unlock the door. Once inside, police say Rollerson stole approximately $60 worth of tobacco products, placed them in a backpack, and fled. Damage to the business was estimated at $3,000.

Shortly after, around 8:40 a.m., officers responded to Wawa for a report of a stolen vehicle that was taken after the operator left it running unsecured in the parking lot. Officers located the vehicle nearby and observed a man fleeing from it. Following a brief foot pursuit, officers took the man, identified as Rollerson, into custody.

Detectives say they identified Rollerson as the burglary suspect through surveillance footage and clothing found in his possession. Rollerson was also found with the tobacco products stolen from Speedmart/Valero.
