Dog Dies in Delmar Trailer Home Fire

DELMAR, Del. – A dog was killed in a trailer fire on Thursday afternoon.
On Sept. 3, crews with the Delmar, Laurel, Blades, and Seaford Fire Departments responded to a trailer fire on Sussex Highway. Firefighters arrived to find smoke showing from the front door, locating a kitchen fire inside.
One dog was located inside the home and removed by firefighters. Despite emergency medical services personnel attempting to resuscitate the dog using K9 pet masks and chest compressions, the pet succumbed to its injuries.
Crews from Laurel, Blades, and Seaford performed overhaul and salvage after the fire.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal is reportedly investigating the fire, which Delmar Fire Department says is believed to have started on the stove.
