Discussions Surrounding Mill St. School in Cambridge

(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – An abandoned school building is once again at the center of discussion in the City of Cambridge.

The former Academy School, ,located at 201 Mill Street has been abandoned for decades, city commissioners are taking a pro-preservation stance in a 3-2 vote.

Cambridge City Manager, Glenn Steckman says the building has been neglected for decades, citing an engineering report recommending the school be demolished.

We caught up with Steckman about what comes next for the building that has been a point of contention in the community.

Glenn tells WMDT, “Well, the next step is to meet with the property owner again and to be, you know, an outline to him, outline our expectations and that we expect this timeline to be followed…”
