Garage Fire Displaces Three in Mardela Springs

MARDELA SPRINGS, Md. – The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating a garage fire that displaced three on Sunday night.

At 11:08 p.m. on Aug. 23, crews with the Sharptown Volunteer Fire Department and other local companies responded to a one-story rancher in the 12000 block of Laurel Road after a passerby reported a fire. A total of 52 firefighters battled the blaze for 45 minutes before successfully extinguishing the flames. 

The total damage to the house and its contents is estimated to be valued at $100,000.

The preliminary cause of the fire remains under investigation.
