Over $520K Approved for Parks & Rec. Projects in Wicomico Co.

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – Three projects in Wicomico County are getting a financial boost after the Maryland Board of Public Works approved more than $520,000 at its meeting on Wednesday night.

The funding, awarded through the Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ Community Parks and Playgrounds Program, will support the following projects:

Willards Town Park: $149,674 for improvements including new bleachers, picnic tables, benches and trash cans.
Gordy Park in Delmar: $70,500 for new playground equipment, refurbishment of the skateboard ramp and construction of a new gazebo.
Mason Dixon Sports Complex: $300,500 for lighting improvements to Fields 1 and 3.

“These awards demonstrate what can happen when local and state partners work together to invest in our communities,” County Executive Julie Giordano said. “We will continue advocating for resources that improve our parks, strengthen our communities and provide residents with first-class recreational opportunities.”
