Multiple Agencies Respond to Trench Collapse in Bridgeville

BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – Multiple agencies responded to a trench collapse in Bridgeville on Tuesday afternoon.

On Aug. 18, the Sussex County Technical Rescue Team responded to assist the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Company with trench rescue operations. Upon arrival, one victim was found in an unsecured trench with injuries. Rescue technicians worked quickly to secure the trench allowing for a safe extrication.

The Seaford, Greenwood, Georgetown, and Blades Volunteer Fire Companies also responded to the scene alongside Sussex County Emergency Medical Services & HazMat, Delaware State Police Aviation, Kent County Special Operations, and other partner agencies.

On Wednesday, the Town of Bridgeville thanked first responders, saying, “We are thankful for the teams that came to the rescue of a contractor yesterday in our community – with their coordinated efforts, a life was saved!”
